1984 c10 steering column

Hello again, I've been working on my 84 c10, and I'm looking to replace the steering column, but I'm having a hard time finding one. All I'm able to find have a wiper control lever, but, my switch is on the dash. Is this an aftermarket switch, or am I missing somthing? Thanks in adance.

I don't know exactly what year they moved the switch to the column, but you can usually compare part numbers and figure out if your is a stock column for that year. I often look up items in the lmctruck.com online catalog, since they have parts nicely broken out by year. In the catalog it looks like they may have moved it to the column in '84.

Chuckschevytruckpages.com is also a good reference for what was changed each year in the square body trucks. Rockauto.com also has a great parts breakdown, and their prices are usually cheaper than anything you would find locally.

Also try posting your question on these sites:

You're missing the fact that GM moved the switch from the dash to the column around the 1985 model year. All the columns you have been finding are 1985-1991 columns. What exactly is wrong with your original column? Steering columns don't usually break. You can usually swap individual pieces if necessary.

Nothing is broken, but before I got the truck, the previous owner swapped the steering column for whatever reason. Now I'm restoring the truck and I want it to look nice.

Is there something on the new/swapped column that does not match, or what are you trying to restore to original?

I know this isn't the swap and sell, but if you're near San Diego there's one here you can have from a '82 truck I parted out.

I would think they wouldn't be too hard to find yet.
