4.3L Vortec V6 powered FIAT 124 Spider

My name is Rob and I am the Owner/builder of a custom carbureted Vortec V6 powered FIAT 124 Spider.
The engine features a comp cams 280 duration .525" lift hydraulic roller cam with retrofit hydraulic roller lifters and true roller rockers in an 85 block bored .030 over. The heads are Vortec fitted with screw in studs and pocketed for the taller springs to accommodate the higher lift. The 4bbl intake is an Edelbrock 2114 topped with a Carter 625 cfm AFB.





The body and taillights have been customized.. Currently the car is painted satin black. When I'm done building the car and testing it I'm painting it house of kolor organic green Kandy. For more pics of what I have done go to http://www.v6spider.com
This is my second build of this car. The first one was crudely put together. This version I'm doing as best I can to build it right. There are many other things I did to accommodate the v6 in the spider Customized front suspension and cross-member plus many other modifications were necessary in order to make this happen.. Anyway. Here's a shot of it on it's side in my garage. I re-enforced the subframe and converted the rear suspension from a 4 link to a 3-link to accomodate the dual exhaust out the back. The rear -end is a limited slip unit out of an 84 RX-7 GSL.

Not much hookup... But lots of fun all the same.. The transmission is a Borg warner t5 5 speed from a camaro. The bell housing is from a Chevy Monza spyder.. Cable pull..

Thanks! I removed the sheet metal around the bellhousing area and fabbed in new sheet metal to make room for the trans. I also built my own steering using a 72 mustang II rack the shocks are retrofit mustang II coil-overs for a mustang II made by QA-1. They are 12 way adjustable damping. The brakes are from the same RX7 donor that the rear end came from. Steering arms are custom made and lower control arms are modified FIAT.




The taillights are 2 1/2" Truck Marker lights that were modified to work with 1157 two filament bulbs.
The tailights holes are 2 1/2" exhaust pipe..

Cool, sounds great I want to see it done and on the road.

If you can find a different air filter that fits, do it....those foam things are known for catching on fire easily if the engine ever backfires.....they are also a very poor flowing filter.

Thanks guys. BTW I have to build a custom air cleaner so the foam one is out.. Not much hood clearance at all.. Like the spitfire... I'm in Washington state..

V6,

I think your V6 Spider build is exceptional!

Looks like a lot of hard work went into building it.

The wheels...not a fan of them but they do give a stock/sporty appearance.
