5.0 base timing ????

I have a 5.0 bored 30 over,hei distributer ,edelbrock rpm manifold,600holleydblp,,my problem is that I can not seem to find the happy medium , should I change the spring in the vacuum advance its too strong and then it seems to let go and give too much advance ??? my head is getting sore bouncing off the head rest ???!!! Well hope to hear sume feed back Thanx NPG

NPG, do you mean you have a 'flat spot' while accellerating, when the vehicle sort of bogs down? If so, it could be either a distributor or carb problem.
If you're sure the carb's OK, then the first step would be to change the distributor advance weight springs to a lighter set.

Crane sells kits for re-curving the distributors, which include sets of springs and an adjustable vacuum advance cannister.
