Thanks KVP. The idea is to show that the average person can do this without a fortune to spend. Patience is the key but it has to be fun or it will just end up another unfinished project in the back of someone's garage.

Also, I am blessed to have a built car so I am not doing without while I am building this one.

Amen to what you said about having a car finished.I didn't have a car that I could call mine until 1991 when I bought my AMX. Up until then, building cars, restoring cars for other people often became painful. Seeing all that work drive away and yes you got paid, but it was though a part of me drove away too. Now, even though I don't drive my cars much (for all kinds of reasons), just knowing that they are there is often enough.

Did not do much today but did get my 5 minutes in. Rough cut the toe board and aligned the door a little better. I need to make this corner of the floor board and put it all together so I can slide it in as an assembly. Keep you fingers crossed.

John, hey buddy now this is a project! can't wait to see it person. if it can be done...John Long can and has done it..one of the best body men i've known.

John long 06-17-2013 06:51 PM

Jeremy is prejudiced because he is my friend. Thanks Jeremy.

Reinforced the body mount so it won't collapse when torqued. This brace has to support the firewall and is key to the door being properly supported. It absolutely has to be strong enough.

The brace is bolted and a template made for the corner of the floor board.

I did not mean to concern you guys. They are good things. Taking my wife to do a little gambling ( not my thing) and meeting an old high school buddy for the day. The rest of my life is just taking over for a couple of days. Life is not just about cars I guess.:nono::mwink::P

no way, family is most important. People keep asking why my car isn't getting done when it's just one month away from paint. I tell them I work on cars all day to keep my daughter in swim lessons and to take her to disney land. What's the point if I can't be there for her to enjoy it. I get home and can't even hug her cause I run to the garage to slip out of my dusty and contaminated clothes first. So why would I bring that closer to home when my house is joined together with the garage? Anyhow, I'm pushing the boss to let me bring it in to finish it off and he's considering it.

Family first, always.

I guess so...when I get rolling on something that is pretty hard to admit. :D But boy oh boy is it true. I would take an ax to my cars for my family. This daddy day all of them where here. With my oldest daughter prego, and my oldest son and my little grand daughter, holy cow everything else is forgotten!

My best gift was my little grand daughter hugging me tight with her head on my shoulder for quite a while, I closed my eyes and just soaked it in. :D

My son driving "his" Gran Sport. He drove this car to high school his senior year and it meant a lot to him to drive it again for the first time. All the work doing the car was gone seeing this sight I'll tell you.

My kids, they are all pretty wonderful!

I am the only man in her life with a mustache and she is fascinated by it. "Mus-tash" she says as she touches it. LOLOL

Yep, cars are like art, they simply add to all the other good stuff.

Yeah I have to tell you, I really love my detached garage! It's out in the back yard, I and I can go out behind it with sand blasting or anything like that and not bother anyone. I am very lucky my neighbors are are situated where I can do about anything I want out there without bothering anyone. Between the garage door and the back of my house is the neighbors yard kinda close so I will close the garage door if I am making too much noise in there. But other than that if they aren't out side or something I don't sweat it. But on the same note, I can't park my Gran Sport right outside the garage if the kids are in the back yard for fear of something like a ball flying over the fence (they have). But all in all I am blessed. And I mean really "Blessed" as this home fell in my lap like you can't believe at a time when I had no hope what so ever of owning another home. It was my God mothers sister's house and she passed away. Out of the blue, we are talking wild out of the blue just minutes before I was going to look at a two bedroom apartment (I was in a one bedroom) because my oldest son was coming to live with us I get a call from my God Mothers son asking me if I wanted to rent this house of his aunts. Guys, it was 300 feet from my bodyshop! He gave it to me free for a month to move in, no deposit nothing. Two years later he came to tell me the bad news, his mom was ill and they had to sell it. :( It hit me that my wife had a 401k with barely enough but enough for a down payment. He kept the price WAY down so we could qualify and this is after the real estate agent who was helping us with the paper work tried like hell to get him to put it on the market being it was worth about $40k more than he was selling it to me for! Like I said, I am VERY BLESSED to own this home and I will thank my God mother until the end of my time here on this earth.

Brian
