54 Ford pickup
I was at a Buddys house today. He had a 54 pickup he had aquired a while back. It's in fine shape, best I've seen in a long time. Someone painted it way back in the 70's. (Acrylic enamel I'm certian) he asked me if I'd strip it.
I gave it a good going over, under, around, and through. I told him that I saw no reason to strip it to it's bare nakedness. The existing paint, is in such good shape, as is the sheet metal, that it would, IMHO, be as good as, if not better than any primer you could put on it. I would block sand, and prime as needed.
I couldn't believe that there is no rust, or rust repairs in the usual places.
You know, running board to fender, cab corners, Floorpan, rockers, door bottoms, etc. all solid, and unadulterated. Window welds, all solid, and clean paint. Best looking un-restored pickup of this vintage that I've seen.
Even the bed strips, while rusty, are solid. (I'd replace those, along with the wood, which has a few rotten holes).
