69 olds 98 turbo 400?

Hello,
Car has been sitting for 12 years ,Grandmas, it started up ok but no reverse.Whenin reverse it blew trans fluid out of fill tube all over the place.
Was that from over heating and boiling the fluid?
Thanks

Maybe grandma overfilled it.

Did you check it after you ran it through the gears?

typical cause of fluid blowing out the filler tube is a clogged vent on the transmission case. Insects of some type often are the cause of a clogged vent

^^^THIS!

I had exactly this problem on the TH400 in a 67 Olds Delta. Here in Northern VA, the flippin' mud daubers plug up every hole they find. I have engine blocks in storage where every bolt hold is plugged like that.
