79 Firebird rear disc emergency brake adjust

I am new to the site, and need help on adjusting the emergency brake on a 79 firebird transplanted rear disc brake system into a 50 Merc coupe. I have good brakes and pedal, but put new cables on emergency brake, as old cable was bound up. I have adjusted the cable as tight as it will go, but does not set the brakes. I can set them by hand, but not with the foot brake. Motors manual does not give me a good direction on how to adjust these. Any help will be appreciated...Thanks...K.C.

E Brake function is a manual, cable actuated system. The Pontiac service manual covers the adjustment procedure pretty well.
There's a nut on the end of the front cable that runs back and forth on the threaded end of the front cable.
What's needed is to take up the slack in the lines going back to
the calipers "without" going so far as to pull thearm that applies the brake.
If it's too tight, you will have the brake on all the time then you will just wear the pads out.
If it's too loose, then it doesn't pull far enough for it to work. you'll need to hold the threaded end from rotating while you tighten the nut.
The book tells you to make sure the brakes don't activate (brake off),
so that almost means you'll need the thing up on a lift. I did mine by
just taking the rear two wheels off and jacking just the rear.

I am not seeing what has to be done. Is there something you need to do in the caliper itself, to adjust the brake up tighter, prior to taking up the slack in the cable,

I don't know of anything that has to be done with the caliper. When you twist the cable it should get tighter. JMO
