Vents

Yeah, you'll probably have to take them back off if you haven't already. That bulbus cowl doesn't allow much room to squeeze a wrench into. If your carefull, you can take the fender loose from the rear and fudge it out enough to do it, but watch out how far you pull it out, as you can chip lots of paint. Have some help. The vents are too heavy to glue, but you may be able to use windshield urethane if you absolutly do not want to re-remove the fenders.

Always, always install fender trim and emblems etc. to fenders BEFORE installing the fender to the car. It is easier to do the installation off the car and most of the time it is the ONLY time to do it.

Pull the fenders, install the vents, etc. and re-install the fenders.

That Lesson 134 in the Old Car Lesson Book, you can check it off your list of Lessons To Be Learned...The Hard Way.

The driver's side-(left side) vent studs can be accessed with the fender on through the engine compartment, the right side is impossible with the heater/ac assembly in the way. You'll need to remove the right fender or splash shield for access on the right side. If your arms are thick find somebody else with thinner arms to tighten up the left side for you
