Another, what's it worth

I've decided to put another rear end under my 51 Dodge, kinda semi pro street with a 10 in wide wheel. I have a 70 Camaro rear end with 3.42's, limited slip, new bearings, seals, brakes. It has a triangulated 4 link also. It's a 8.5. Wonder what this thing would be worth? I went through craigslist for a hr and never even seen 1. It doesn't have the spring perchs on it now. I was going to list it on CL in hope of selling it local. Sure couldn't afford to ship it the way rates are now. Has anyone bought 1 lately? Any ideas?

I would guess maybe $400-500, the fact that the original Camaro spring perches are gone makes it harder to sell, most Camaro guys are looking for a bolt-in solution, or something with factory perches for a restoration. Look at the fact the Posi, gears and bearings are the real worth, axles are common to other applications and thus cheaply available, and the housing has been chopped on and modified, so it isn't worth much now.

By the way, it can't be original to a 1970 Camaro if it is a 8.5", the Camaro didn't get the 8.5" until 1971....1970 SS and Z28 got the 12 bolt, lower performance Camaro's used the 8.2" 10-bolt for the first year.

Why not just narrow the 8.5", and buy aftermarket axles for it....it is plenty strong enough unless you are talking slicks and 500+ hp with dragstrip launches from a sticky surface....and it can be beefed up to take more but you would have to change to a larger spline axles and the posi or spool to go with the increased axle spline count.

The 8.5" is for all intents and purposes easy to make as strong as the fabled 12-bolt car axle, just needs the larger 30 spline axles in place of stock 28's to get there, takes all the same bearings as a 12-bolt does
