Birds.....Aaarrgh!!

Does anyone have any suggestions for this problem?? Today, I opened up all the garage doors (4 bay garage), since the weather was beautiful and I planned to spend most of the day tinkering in the garage. The sun was streaming in, the temperature was perfect, lots of fresh air to enjoy…..and then……A damned bird decided to check out the garage. So I tried to encourage him to leave, but he just kept flying from one end of the garage to the other, apparently oblivious to the fact that the overhead doors were open to facilitate his departure. Apparently, birds are a special kind of stupid, and I probably looked like an idiot, chasing him around the garage, swinging a broom at him. But I needed him to vacate before he decided to **** on the cars parked inside. It took at least 20 minutes or more before he finally flew out of the building. No harm was done, but this has happened several times. I decided that these situations probably don’t warrant breaking out the shotgun, but I’m hoping there is some sort of lesser deterrent to keep these critters outside where they belong.

Get you a sprayer and some bald eagle urine and wet a perimeter around the shop... because its America!

Or- I got rid of barn swallows this way- duct tape sticky side up on any place they can land. Birds will not tolerate sticky stuff on feet.

Yes it is a quite vexing problem! In a recent article I read in Scientific American it seems that most birds do this only because they know it annoys the garage owner or to get a better look at your collection.

But there is a answer!! Simply go on to Amazon and purchase a Acme "Little Giant Bird B Gone" Once installed your problems will be over. This wonderful device intrigues and confuses the offending Avions to the point where they take flight to a less intimidating location.

Your problem will be solved!

Take a close look athe the picture below and you'll see how it works.

There's also those screens that join together in the middle with magnets so that you can just walk through them... they part open and then reclose...

I like shines solution. I've seen many different type of fake owls, bird distress calls, the birds perch on the owls after awhile, you can tell by the white stuff all over them. Distress calls work for a minute, mostly just annoy everyone else. What I have seen work is brightly colored foil streamers, the reflections scare the birds. If you have to catch a bird, use an old bath towel or face towel, throw it over them, pick up the bird and toss it outside. I've done this a few times.

On a lighter note, I used to inspect kiwi at a packing shed, place was a mess. they were having a food safety audit, birds were all over the place. The shed manager was told to get rid of them, after the shed closed for the day, he and a few buddies got out the BB guns. Metal roof, all kinds of sunshine and leaks when it rained, had to be 20 holes in the roof. Got points deducted from the audit for the holes in the roof.

Another shed I inspected at decide to use netting in the rafters of the receiving area, about the size of half a football field. Took them a few weeks to finish installing the netting, about 2 weeks later there were feathers falling from the rafters, not all the birds were gone when they finished installing the netting. I guess they flew in, went to the areas that were netted, when they finished installing the netting, they were trapped in the rafters. Yechhh. BTW, this place used bird distress calls

I am wondering if someone threw a can of Coke out of an air plane and it hit your car would you then wrap it in bubble wrap so the next time a plane flies over you will be ready in case a can of Coke falls out of the sky?
