Budget hood blackout

My daily driver is a 93 Chevy Z24. The hood is a factory fiberglass hood. I was going to black out the entire hood, however, I'm not sure how. I've got left over materials from when I painted the car (Diamont primer, basecoat black, clear)..

I figure being fiberglass, rust/waterproof isn't an issue.

Should I.

1. just use basecoat black, and leave it as is. (cost $zero)

2. basecoat black, then try to get some 'flattener' to mix with the clear (cost
$40)

3. rattle can it semigloss black (cost $20).

Thoughts?

Go with sand it down with some 400 wet sand paper some black base. Splurge for the matting additive, and clear it. It won't last forever, but should be about, what it sounds like you're looking for. Not to mension, if you have any left, it looks good on brackets and suspension parts too! Spray-bombing your hood! would probably not survive for a single summer.
