Carb to TBI Swap?

Here is what I would like to do...
Donor 1990 4.3 V-6 TBI Jimmy
OLDS is 1986 non CC CHEVY 305
I would like to know if I can swap this TBI unit onto my Chevy 305.
Can I use the CC/ECM etc. off the V-6 (with new or reprog chip) along with the harness etc. and simply change the intake or use an adapter for the TBI to fit?
Is it possibly as simple as this?
I know I will probably need to invest in this and that, but I guess the basic question is can I use the TBI system from the V-6 for MY engine?
I know this isn't really a rodding Q, but I figured if anyone would know, someone here would.
Sorry for the general question, just trying to get an idea before I spend too much time playing around with it.
TIA
Rick

Sounds like you've got it figured. You may need bigger injectors, too, depending on how much power you're making.

I have a '91 4.3L TBI that I am planning a V8 swap into in the future. The last V8 swap I did was carbed so I want to go FI this time. If you want to go with the Vortec heads and TBI, the only intake available to you is a GM unit: http://www.sallee-chevrolet.com/Chevrolet_Intake_Manifolds/Vortec_TBI.html - it might be pricey but would probably be worth the power gained being able to use those Vortec heads.

Just for reference, I found that the data stream for the 4.3L is the same for a few V8 engines. Doesn't mean the computer is the same one, but it may give you a place to start looking for chips. I don't have the ECM part numbers.

DATA STREAM A58
4.3L TBI (LB4) (VIN=Z) 89 TRUCKS
4.3L TBI (LB4) (VIN=Z) 90 91 S/T TRUCKS w/autoc TRANS
4.3L TBI (LB4) (VIN=Z) 90 C/K/G/M/L/R/V TRUCKS
4.3L TBI (LU2) (VIN=B) 90 TRUCKS
5.0L TBI (L03) (VIN=H) 89, 90 TRUCKS
5.7L TBI (L05) (VIN=K) 89 TRUCKS
5.7L TBI (L05) (VIN=K) 90 TRUCKS LIGHT DUTY EMISSION
6.0L TBI (LS0) (VIN=P) 89 TRUCKS
7.4L TBI (L19) (VIN=N) 89 TRUCKS
7.4L TBI (L19) (VIN=N) 90 TRUCKS LIGHT DUTY EMISSION

The biggest hurdle I can see with your swap is changing over to an electric speedometer (as opposed to the cable-driven type), but you might get lucky with the '86 and have it in there already. Then again, the 4.3 and the SBC have the same trans bolt pattern so if you can take the 700R4 overdrive trans with it, too, you'll be laughing. And you might be able to use the 4.3L serpentine belts on the 305.
