cheap 427 tall deck

hi guys i'm new to this site but i've been in and out of cars and trucks since i could crawl and i've been given the chance to pick up a fresh 427 tall deck for dirt and a ham sammich and i have a few ideas floating around in my head and i'm just looking for some other opinions other than just my circle of friends i have a bare short deck 454 block and i could just buy some .030 pistons for that and build a 427 short deck and sell that along with my bare TD427 i could try to resell the TD427 as it sits or i could put it on an engine stand and let it sit till i decide to put it in an old woods beater i don't want to rip it apart if i run it ill just put a holley truck avenger on and call it done but what else will i need to just drop in and play

The words cheap, preformance and tall deck Chevy cannot be used in the same sentence.

Best bet is to sell it or bite the bullet and do it correctly. As stock its only good for 3000 rpm but will pull down a fair sized apartment building..

thanks bob, i failed to mention i've got a 468 thats going in a truck of mine and i dont think i'll ever try to get performance out of the 427 just thought it would be pretty fun in a geared down woods beater the way it sits or worse comes to worst pull the crank and rods and throw a set of keith blacks on the rods and put them in my other bare block i got laying around and i know a few people that dont have the checking account for an aftermarket block but still want something they can beat on in a pulling truck so i could go that route and dump the block to one of them, just my .02 but it is nice to hear other opinions on the subject so thanks again
