Clear coat prep

This deck lid was my first attempt at laying down chevy 'ss' stripes and overall it turned out well.. I'll admit I used Duplicolor PaintShoppe Lacquer...

my question comes in on the clear coat. I messed up and organge-peeled the clear REALLY bad. It took a ton of aggressive blocking with 400 grit to get it leveled out. judging by the color of the run off from wet sanding, I'm pretty sure I've rubbed through the clear in a couple places in the solid white.. the stripes are o.k.

i've worked up to 800 grit wet working on getting it polished back up. .will it be o.k to re-spray a few more coats of clear over the 800 grit finish?

You can sand with 600 and reshoot clear without any issues 800 is ok but a little too fine for me I always wonder if the clear has enough scratch to get a good grip or if it will peel but plenty of others use 800 so it should be ok.
