coat of polish over urethane

I just painted a car with urethane acrylic enamel. Its a pearl red color, the paint job turned out good. I want to put a coat of polish on this by hand just to protect it from the winter elements here. Is it safe to do this a few days after painting or am i going to screw something up by doing that? Its just a single stage paint job no clear on it. Thanks.

That would be a major screwup or could be.

Being Enamel and cooler weather who knows when that enamel will be even close to a cured state.

Waxing too soon can cause:
Die-back or loss of gloss.
Small solvent pop (pinhead)
Blistering (large)
Loss of adhesion. (between paint and substrate)
OR none of the above.

The only thing I would put on at this point would be a glaze like a spray and shine detail type stuff. (lasts a week)
Or a Carnuba wax, as Carnuba will breath.

If you can leave it inside with some good heat on it for a few days it will really help it out. With the sub zero weather you are getting or will get that paint wont cure out for a long time.
