The paint is peeling off the roof and hood of my '95 Dodge Dakota pickup truck. Pretty typical on these mid-90's Dodge trucks. It's been doing that for a few years so now I've got primer spots and some surface rust areas. It's a work truck I've had for 20 years and I wanna make it all purdy again!
My question is about sandpaper grits and paint selection.
I plan to remove the surface rust with 80 grit followed by 150 and then spot prime the areas with this...….
Next I'll D/A the whole truck with 220 grit then shoot this as a top coat....
No clear, I'm just doing single stage. It's a work truck and I just wanna get some color on it. Doing it as cheaply as possible, too.
Other than my roadster it's been 40 years since I've done paint and bodywork and I know things have changed. Does my plan sound about right? Comments/suggestions/critiques are all appreciated!
