Consew 226 Reverse Jam
First Thank you! This has been the most helpful place in all the internet when it comes to info on these old machines. I am grateful.
So here is what is going on...
I rescued this poor old beast. It is a true 226, not a 226r1/2. My friend's ex-wife left it to rot in a court yard. The table is blown and there is not as much rust as I had feared.
I got it through and initial cleaning and oiled it up. It turns and the motor even seems to still be functioning though not as strongly as one would hope. I plan to put a servo in it any way.
The problem is the reverse bar seems to get stuck and the machine jams. It will not maintain forward stitching. When I got it, I had to press really hard on the reverse handle to dislodge it and it moved freely for a bit.
Is there a spring that is perhaps blown out or missing? Does any one have pictures of what the hardware inside should look like. With out proper service manuals available it is really hard to make proper repairs.
