you dont

you make them

customize the factory one with a saw or torch and welder and a plate of steel

or if youre too scared to then a local small time welder guy will do it for 20 bucks real quick

You will have to make it yourself because the factory never offered one for the 78-up Caprice because of the catalytic converter requirement. You may be able to easily convert/modify one out of a 65-74 full size chevy to work. I have converted 64-72 Chevelle crossmembers for use in 78-87 Monte Carlo/Malibu/Cutlass by just trimming the ends of them and redrilling holes.

This is why it is called Hotrodding, sometimes you have to make or convert what you need, not everything can be delivered to your door by Fedex, new and ready to install.

Fast 68 beat me to it.

87 Caprice, in any form, police or regular civilian issue, did not have dual exhausts. The 87 Caprice platform is at the end of that body designs life span, which started with the redesign in 1977. Catalytic converter technology was in the stone age then, and the cars were designed with a single converter exhaust system. The police cars might have had larger piping, but still only one catalytic converter, until the next body redesign in 89-90

I know you love you cop car, but reality is that aside from electrical, suspension and durability improvements it is the same as the Caprices that rolled from a showroom floor, they just beefed up certain areas so it would survive the daily abuse they recieved. Taxi cab issue Caprices have a lot of the same modifications (Fleet Use).

Almost everything in the late Seventies and the Eighties was the same way. Single exhaust, poor flowing cats. About the only exception was the 5.0 Mustang with 4 small cats and dual exhaust. The IROC Camaro's had a single exhaust, as did Buick Grand National, Monte SS, Hurst Olds 442.

Just take a piece of 3"-4" Dia. pipe and use it to mark a half circle where you want the exhaust to run through the crossmember. Cut the half circle out of crossmember, then cut the pipe in half and weld it in for strength.
I think this shop will make what you want also. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/65-72...A1%7C72%3A1171
