Crosswind Intake

So I picked up a used polished Crosswind Vortec intake this weekend. I overpaid at $75 but the outside was pretty clean and the guy needed some money (around he holidays I don't mind over paying a litle if I know the guy just needs the money).

Anyway, I would just like to say that the quality of this intake is close to the worst I have ever seen. The outside was about a C, maybe C+, whihc I can deal with. The casting left in some of the runners was about a B (where I'd put some Edelbrock stuff) and som eof the runners was a D. Those runners I was very displeased with. So now I have to go in there and try to clean up what I can with my 6" stones and mandrels, but being a dual plane there are some areas I know I will not be able to clean up. If buying a new intake I would advise for springing for the RPM Airgap (or std. RPM), if buying used be ready to do some clean up.

I have some intakes from the 70's that were cast far better than this one.

intake

You think it's bad looking at it wait till you actually take some measurements....

A long time ago when the China intakes started showing up they were a tad bit better then they are now. We ran a vc jr copy on the dyno back to back with a real Vc Jr. got the same basic numbers, but the quality was so bad it stopped me from ever buying another one.

Because even with all the work it'll need (which in some respects I enjoy doing) it's still cheaper than a new Edelbrock. Besides it was an intake that I didn't own. which means I can check one more off my list.

Does that mean I can expect an offer on the Weiand 7546 X-CELerator and the Eddy CB3 (not -X) I have laying around? lol

Already have the first one. I don't have any real interest in the CB3 unless its in real good shape and you don't want much for it.

I first started collecting intakes when I accidentally bought a Olds 350 W-30 intake. Eventually I'd like to have enough odd ones to cover a garage wall.

But you have interest in an off-shore Eddy knock-off... odd, that.

This wasn't a real offer to sell anything (note the "lol"), that's what the Classifieds are for. But FWIW, the CB3 is excellent in every regard (it IS dusty).

The off-shore one I could potentially use. I have a couple of performers that I could use in place of the C3B (but it'd be neat on a wall), still though, if you ever find anything unique listed I'd appreciate if you PM me, that goes for anyone. I'll be upfront though, since I don't really need any of this I don't pay high prices.

I've got a PP crosswind and a hurricane plus...

I like them both, they work fine. I have the crosswind on my 357ci now and intend to use the hurricane plus on the stroker SBC I'm building now.
