dang squirrels

anyone have any tips for keeping squirrels out of a vehicle?

i have 2 acres of mostly black walnut trees. short of cutting 25 trees out of my yard.
this pic is under the hood of my dodge pu, the top of the motor was completely covered (many times), the air cleaner full, the cold air tube and inner fender was full too.
the red arrow points to a nut jambed under the accelerator linkage. the throttle stuck wide open on my daughter who had just recieved her learners permit, luckily i was with her and controlled the situation.

i have since traded the truck, but have an 09 sierra and my truckrod that i'd like to keep the pesky varmit out of.

Some people eat squirrels, ya know................

Short of rat poison, I don't know......I used to get them hiding the walnuts in corners of my garage, but not the cars......

A shotgun would probably be pretty effective, or if you're a really good marksman, a .22 would do the trick. And before you do, find a good recipe for squirrel pot pie.

LMAO @ Vince - - - somehow I knew someone would post that Video

As far as deterring the squirrels, I think I would try something that maybe had an odor that was offensive to them but didn't screwup the inside of the car either.

I discovered a way to keep the skunks from going under my house but I would NOT recommend it for the engine bay

a gun would probably work best, heck i live close to detroit, no one would even notice gun shots

it would take all the ammo in michigan and probably cost me a 30 yr marriage.
this is my yard in the fall

beautiful shade trees but it's like a war zone in the fall.
i can barely make it to the shop with out a hard hat and body armor.

that and mowing the lawn, sheez; it sounds like rocks in the blender...

thanks vince, i'll try mothballs. hopefully it's not caustic to aluminum or paint.

right now i have 6 cars in the shop, 4 neighbor's cars for winter storage and i park my 09 sierra & wifey's crv (don't ask) in there.
i should put some it the barn too.

My butt is tired this morning, I watched the squirrel video last night around 10:45 last night, got caught up in the videos till midnight... too much fun.

I hate squirrels. I was doing some tractor work for a guy back in the 80's when a squirrel den collapsed on me, buried the tractor half way up the back side. It was a slow cave in, to speak, I had time to jump off and roll. Shoot the toothy lil barstards. Nothin more than a cute rat.

Which brings me back to the videos. Did you see them getting ate up by big fish? And the sling was priceless. I would think about a few ferrets or other animals that would hunt them varmints down....
