2. Boy it is sure frustrating at the wrong time. I have learned to use the back button and copy to save myself sometimes. ... Certainly not, but spending minutes composing only to have it dumped sets a negative start to a day.

3. I think an internet rush hour explains it, what with the state of affairs and all being what it is. I am less cranky now and more willing to blame myself for just being too wordy with the posts

4. This site already forces a person to tap through several things just to see what one tap should get them.

5. By far, this is the hardest forum to use of any I have tried.
1. I've always assumed this website and most others do routine maintenance between 3:AM and 7:AM daily since many don't work at all at that time...

2. Yes, if on a website that isn't fully trustworthy I try to remember to do 'copy' before hitting the 'send' button in case something goes wrong... especially if I spent 15 minutes to a half hour typing something... or I may send in 2-3 minutes of a message at a time after typing it in case something goes wrong so i won't lose it all... At least a real ISP beats the AOL I started on. Now if the internet goes down, my work stays on the screen and can be sent later... With AOL, if it went down while reaching for the 'send' button after a 1/2 hour of typing, the screen went blank and everything was lost... I'm also considering removing the keyboard buttons at lower left and right corners since I often accidentally hit them and wipe everything out or suddenly find myself on another page of who knows what or getting asked if I want to program 'hot keys'...

3. Yeah, with everyone at home because of Covid-19 shutdown, the 'net is experiencing unusual loading at times... although that has always seemed to happen on Saturday afternoons when many kids are home and online...

4. Could you elaborate on that? I didn't understand what that was about...

5. Doesn't seem to be any harder than others... especially since i have it remember a 'low level password' which, even if stolen, won't get anyone much of anything... and I usually come here from an email or a bookmarked link so it doesn't ask for my password, what ever it is, I don't remember...

As to Windows 10, it came with the new 'Edge' browser which didn't seem to work at all... and I.E. browser barely worked with it, very slow/sluggish. if worked at all, so I went with the Chrome browser which seems to give little problem... plus using AdFender Professional, a screaming bargain at $15/year which literally blocks millions of ads yearly including those on youtube... which saves tons of storage space... speeds up downloads... blocks viruses and other crap... is updated almost daily... leaves me happy...

And with trustworthy examples, after years of ruining mornings, dismissed whining suddenly becomes meaningful reality. I could compare this to a currently popular social situation in the US.

Now... imagine that happening when you tap preview for the final check of a half hour composition with half a dozen informative photos so its educational. Then imagine tapping the back button to find your work gone. Its time to go to actual work then, so theres no redo and someone gets behind the wheel angry for no other reason and nobody else can understand why.

Alright then. I am off to write database error on the street in front of the courthouse with chalk, big enough for news helicopters to read.

Sure. I use Adblock browser and don't see ads, period. I was trained in advertising and hate it. Adblock's browser was based on Firefox and I loved it. New version is based on Chrome, which I never could stand. I need words that describe function of a button, not bewildering icons not shown in a "legend" (as with folding maps).

Heres how many taps it takes first thing in the morning to see whats up...

open browser

new incognito tab

bookmarks

hotrodder forum

menu

exit enhanced mobile version

yes, sure

today's posts

uncheck remember me

type username

type password

login

___________

Today's posts search cannot be bookmarked, it only bookmarks it at a given time so subsequent uses get no matches.

Desktop version cannot be bookmarked. One slip tapping the menu icon before the page has fully loaded gets a blank page so I have to start over with a new tab.

When adding photos, the cursor used to land after the img code. Now it lands between url and img code, requiring zooming the screen for precision to move the cursor to the end of the body of text, then unzooming to locate the add image icon to continue with another pic.

With Firefox on a PC, tap HRF bookmark (AKA "favorite"), log in, hit today's posts and you're there. I have found no benefit to the pushy-pushed enhanced mobile version but the forum forces it on everyone, every visit if not using a desktop. My last PC was hit by lightning and it doesn't make sense to buy another because the web is forcing their obsolescence and couldn't care less about users not using a phone. In some cases, just trying to view sites in a horizontal format is something the site is not designed for and won't tolerate well. Why are desktop monitors not capable of presenting a vertical format if turned on one side? Sign of the times.

It does look like it is a site issue to me. Like I said above, vBulletin is an extremely outdated platform. The new Zenforo platform that VS is going to on their forums is much better. It does take some getting used to though. Our turn will come eventually for the change

OK, much of that looks to be from using a phone...:

I click on a new tab, it offers suggestions in the middle of the screen to pages I've been to...

Click on a page suggested from hot rodders...

Click on 'New Posts'... that's it... all signed in and ready to go...

Or click on the link in an email and I'm on that thread ready to read and post response...

Click the cursor in the message where I want the icon to place a link or picture... scrolling the cursor over icons gives a printed name of what the icon does...

I love having a 27" screen and full keyboard... when away from home, don't even have the cell phone on (flip phone) unless expecting a call or making a call... don't want anybody bothering me... they can leave a message on the landline answering machine at home if it's important...

In the "before times" when Jon still owned this forum: He told me the web forum hosting site for HR would do something in early hours of low traffic on the site. Re-boot, reframe, upload, download.. I forget what Jon said eggzackly. That could cause a "data base error"

2nd little item: I have my options set so the most recent post is on top of the page when I visit a thread.. So: when folks make a comment about a post "above" , for me it is a post "below" LOL

I do not use a mobile device for this web forum for the reasons mentioned: It sux.

As for the forum upgrade here: should we setup a online guessing list on which month and year that will happen. There would be no prizes for the winner, only the accolades of fellow forum members.

Yes, it is getting worse. Thats what started this thread. BS level already maxed. Watch out for Klingons around Uranus.

You raise a good point. If our favorite forum don't work, we go to news. That is a bad, bad, bad way for a middle aged white single male to start the day. Especially when a tone of frustration is set straight outta the gate by failure to function. Headlines are penned by ruckus-hungry twenty somethings who cannot yet understand the damage that they do. Keep us away from them!

Oh yeah. And for me yesterday morning and today. Makes you want to not use the site, doesn't it?

So whatever blows up your skirt, Romeo. Don't injure yourself.
