database error

When something pisses me off bad enough that I catch myself just before hurling a phone that cost a weeks pay against the wall, that is significant.

The forum randomly stops working and gives a database error message. Might work the next second, might be awhile before the forum reappears. It is a longstanding and ongoing issue which costs life minutes and is getting worse. Now it should be a known one. Would someone please fix that?

Generally an intermittent data base error is related to high volume of traffic on the web forum

I haven't seen that one, either. And I'm pretty quickly frustrated when these blasted 'puter things don't do what they're advertised to do.

I can believe this. Thanks. Theres probably a lot of that going around. Boy it is sure frustrating at the wrong time. I have learned to use the back button and copy to save myself sometimes.

Its a vbulletin message. Wouldn't mention it except it happens regardless of what device is used.

Either / both. I think an internet rush hour explains it, what with the state of affairs and all being what it is. Thats mostly when it occurs and I have had the same message on other vbulletin forums.

I am less cranky now and more willing to blame myself for just being too wordy with the posts. But it is a real thing that happens.

vBulletin is a severely outdated platform. VerticalScope, the owners of this and other forums are changing over from vBulletin to the XenForo platform on many of their forums. No word on this one yet, but it's likely coming in the future.
That said, I have gotten database errors on the new platform too, so it's likely traffic related.

Well, that sucks....I hate the look of all the websites I frequent that have switched to Xenforo.
Had to switch YellowBullet to "dark mode" and then disable a bunch of crap to eliminate all the junk that was tacked to every page.

They've had nothing but problems over there since they switched...place gets one or more of its forum sections flooded by Chinese spammers on nearly a daily basis.

Yeah.....I didn't say we will be changing for sure, they haven't told us of any yet, but they are changing a lot of their forums, so I just figure it will come.
On the other site I mod on, we had some issues with the change but most are worked out now. As for the spammers, we haven't had a real problem there as long as the mods/admins keep on top of new members trying to join.
XenForo is set up mainly to make it easier for mobile users (phone/tablet etc). That seems to be the most popular way of getting on the web these days.....

I am suprised that an upgrade is planned, I thought forums were facing extinction. This site already forces a person to tap through several things just to see what one tap should get them. It is worthy of ridicule but no amount of bashing or flaming or caring can fix that. When it throws your paragraph out the window though, that makes me want to pitch the whole thing over the fence.

Like I said, eBuletin is outdated. One nice thing about XenForo is when you type a reply, it saves it in the box until you send it. Even if you close the browser, shut down your computer, when you come back to there, it's still there. So I have found anyways.
Maybe forums are on their way out, but I guess VS doesn't think so.

Thats cool. I have just been encountering the complaint scenario with increased frequency of late, and one occasion really ground my gears. I know the same advise applies now as ever... (just shut up and) "keep doing what you are doing". Complaining is as foolish here as anywhere.

This is happening every day now. By far, this is the hardest forum to use of any I have tried. Just the facts there.
