Yes 1 inch shafts and 1/2" plate plus bracing with 1/2HP motor and huge reduction gearbox.
I also have an electronic speed controller, quick release top shaft setup whereby settings remain the same when releasing the top roller and 3/4" sideways slide on the top shaft.
Its taken some time to assemble all the components on a budget and now it is starting to all fall into place.

Here is the finished install with trim roughly sitting in place.

I am happy with the outcome of this project and intend to use this mechanism on a future project.

Time to move onto my bead roller fabrication project.

Wow Mr. fiftyv8,

That turned out awesome. I like it so much I may just have to copy your idear!

I may play a bit with a small inertia reel seat belt retractor. I found an old toyota retractor that is pretty small but so far no time for play.

Ya done an excellent job sir I doff my Hat

Thanks RVW.
Probably not going to win any trophies but it is a very practical solution to an annoying problem for some folks out there.
I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I did and thanks for the encouraging comments.

Great, I'm still not driving mine as yet, but the doors have been opened and closed numerous times during the build process and function without a hitch...

I am always on the lookout for feedback from folks who may use idea, since I figure there is always room for improvement, that I may have not picked up on.

Thanks RVW and I hope you are well and making progress thru your current situation.

I've started adding to an old thread on here related to making a hinged half hood for my hot rod, if anybody is interested.
