fabing new suspension 57 dodge coronet

I want to eliminate the torsion bar suspension on my 57 coronet project. I want to lower the car and make more room for accessories mounted low on the motor, AC, PS and Alternator so the original cross member has to go. I also want rack and pinion steering and sway bar. Has anyone seen this done on an early c body mopar? I can fabricate the A arms and cross member but need 2" drop spindles to start. I'm not sure how much weight forged mustang ii spindles can support. They are relatively inexpensive and have a bunch of brake options. I'm removing the poly motor and building a 392 hemi so it will be front heavy. Building a bit of a rat rod, as I'm not doing anything to the body but want it to ride, stop and handle well.

Thanks guys.

If you're gonna fab the a-arms, why not use a G body GM spindle? You can get 2" drop versions for < $200 pair. Or look around on Speedway Motor's site at their stock car stuff...

I don't really care which spindles I use but I want to retain the 4 1/2" wheel bolt circle. If I use gm spindles I would have to re-drill the rotors. I could post some pictures of the original suspension but it is all coming out. I don't want to use any of the original hardware. When I get the front sheet metal off I'll post some pics.
Thanks for the replies.

Since your project is a large car you might think about using a Crown Victoria front clip which uses the same bolt pattern wheels as yours, see if this video gives you some ideas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmrDRZwVS4A
