help no spark!!

ok i just finished this motor and here is what i have
its an msd streetfire box
msd blaster 3 coil
accel wires spiral core
autolite plugs and a pro comp electronic dist

when i was first ready to fire the motor i found i had no spark so i pulled the magnetic pick up plug out of the dist and put a jumper wire in it to short it and create a spark impulse and i got spark to come out of the coil wire that goes to the dist so i figured it was the distributor so i bought another one

the engine fired and ran for until i shut it off and i tried to start it again and i have no spark again it the same problem i have spark at the coil wire but it wount come through the distributor to the wires and plugs

Can an electronic dist really go bad all it does it relay the spark for the coil to the plugs?

what is happening please help me?

Check all your wires.......if it fired once and won't now, you may have a loose wire connection somewhere.

Check your battery connections for your MSD box, and your cable connections, positive and negative(to engine and body grounds).

Also make sure you have battery voltage (keyed) going to the MSD box.

I had this problem once. It turned out to be a shorted cell in the battery, dropping the battery voltage to the MSD box to 9 volts.

check your powers and grounds and make sure they are clean and tight, but if the coil is firing , and when it goes through the distributor and looses fire , try replacing the rotor button in the distributor. it probly has a small hole burn in it !

with the box i have there is a small led on the side that blinks when you get a pulse from the pick up to send spark and it does blink so i dont think it is the power and ground wires but i could be wrong i will check the rest of the wiring and update thanks
