HOK orion silvermax under KBC?

I know technically you can do it but in shooting some panels I noticed that it seems like the flake in the silvermax conflicts with the pearl in the KBC and I'm not getting as much shimmer as I thought I would.

Do most of you seasoned guys shoot orion silver and then run a standard UK kandy with no effects over the top?

In particular I'm wanting to really make either brandywine or candy apple pop with more color. All i have though is the premixed KBC versions of both kandy colors.

KBC stands for Kandy Base Coat and that's what it is, a base coat. Doesn't matter if you use a gold, silver or black ground coat. True candies go over silver or gold generally because you can see through the candy color and the ground coat makes the different color shades along with how many coats are applied. KBC will never "POP" like a true candy. HOK KK's in your choice of clears is another option.

Thanks Osh. You can indeed see through the KBC but not to the level of a true kandy. I'll just stick with my typical bc25 or bc26 under the kbc and forego the silver under the KBC

that Orion silver is just silver base so if you want something different that's where you start by changing the size of the metallics. most mixing machines have fine, medium and coarse metallics try a coarser metallic and see if its more what your looking for

Thanks again deadman. It seemed to me the metallic in the silvermax was fighting against the select pearls in the kbc. After spraying out another test panel though I might have gotten what I wanted.
