Well done cboy and a great idea.

I noticed it's mounted on what looks like wood. That's the end for me because I can't make anything out of wood. In grade school (Yes Paris, that was in the middle of the last century.) we had to make a bird house out of wood. Mine looked a lot like a Salvador Daly impressionistic serving tray.

I like metal. I tell my wood working pals that when I order 4130 and aluminum, at least I know there aren't going to be any knots in it.

Ooops, off subject there.....sorry.

Hey, it you can make it out of metal or aluminum it would probably be ten times better. I just used wood (actually cheapo shelving material) because it was there.

See the little nublet of a brake handle on the twisty grip side?

I'd never post anything unsafe on here....

That was in '80 or 81..

You know we're wrecking Dewey's thread...
I'll get with the program..

I think a guy could use a big gate hinge, like for a swinging garage door, and do away with the wood altogether..

Only if he couldn't work with wood....

Or maybe do away with the hinge, mount a V-block on a roller skate, mount a guide on the work table, plop your die grinder/cutoff in the V, and roll it along the guide to cut the chosen victim. Don't have to U-bolt the grinder then.

Kind of an upside-down radial arm saw without the arm.

Might need a better fit than a V-block for some die grinders.

[edited to add:]

No roller skate? Put guides on the bottom of the V-block and slide it along the guide on the work table.

Hmm. 2 small V-pulleys in an in-line skate formation, running on top of a piece of electrical conduit would give a repeatable straight-line path. Natural tendency would be to bear down on it while pushing the cutter past the work, keeping the die grinder deep in the V-block and the pulleys tight on the conduit -- any wear is automatically taken up on. Should be able to cut in a straight line for any reasonable length of conduit.
