How to wire factory hood tach with MSD distributor

Guys,

I'm wiring up the factory hood tack I added to my 70 GTO when I recently rebuilt my motor and I have a question on where to connect the brown hood tach lead. I have an MSD distributor and coil, but NOT a full MSD ignition. The distributor has a gray wire that is labeled for the tach, but the hood tach wiring instructions say to wire to the negative side of the coil. Does it matter where I wire this to? Thanks for your assistance.

Mike

The wiring instructions for the hood tach assume you have a stock distributor. Follow the MSD instructions.

Thanks what you said makes sense but It was a little easier to wire it to the coil like from the factory so I figured I would try that first and it worked so I left it like that.
