I have officially finished hanging doors. Had to shim this one because this is the left
side where i bent the door post out of plumb when i bent the rails. I
had to also use the adjusters to line things up. now all i have to do to
take the doors off is to remove the pin from the hinges. I think I
made a deal at my local recycle place to get free appliance metal. They
get lots of them all i have to do is cut the sides out to get the flat
pieces. the baked on paint don't bother me any. I had a dish washer that
was Green when New and my wife wanted white. So I wet sanded the front
with 220 grit prime it with a rattle can of zinc chromate, wet sanded
that with 320 and rattle can painted bright white on the front. we had
the dish washer for 16 years it was a Roper. Where else can you get pre-
finished metal for the hidden parts on the undersides and insides of
your car. I can foresee me welding maybe 2 or four of these panels
together for a larger piece of metal. This metal is pretty thick as I
remember cause I've used it before to close off a fire place to burn a
wood stove. Seems if I sand the insides before i weld any to the car it
will be ready for either paint or primer. I priced a 4x8 sheet of 18
gauge steel ..$80.00 to 100 dollars. Looks like they are trying to skin
one person to cover a whole bad quarter they had...
