I decided to make my own fuse panel as I did my last hot Rod. The Merkur does not meet my needs. I decided i would use a 70 Amp relay to turn on the fuse panel with the ign key. I have 7 70 amp relays so when one breaks I get another from my tool box. I will have 16 circuits but only will use 8 or 9 of these to run needed law conforming things like lights, horn etc. I don't want any frills.

I done major surgery on the dash area today. I eliminated the 2 vertical bars from the tranny tunnel to the bottom of the dash frame. I needed leg room for the gas pedal I had to rest my leg against the tube so I eliminated both. plus i cut a large rectangular hole in the sheet metal dash to accept the cluster housing. I got it after a while of adjusting and cutting. Now I have to fill in the voids that this odd shaped cluster left on each side and the bottom. I started to make card board templates to transfer over to steel. I have one side basically done . Time consuming I have to remove the dash each time to Mig weld then re-fit to see. So I will be a while here and after I will have to use some Body filler here and there. I also found time to weld and bolt my seat belt spool bracket.. My Wife and I decided we would buy 2 seats for the car we found a pair that is exact dimensions that we wanted. Maybe ill have them by Sept 1st. So I will hold off work in that area for now. Got some snaps

Day started off bad I blew the bearings in my Riding Mower Deck. the top bearing went on one of the blades. It took a while to get at I ordered 2 bearings ...7 day wait.. Then I finally had time for the Coupe. I put one coat of poly the seat base one coat. Then I started to cut down the Gauge cluster from a 1986 Merkur dash to fit my dash I will do more surgery tomorrow cutting some dash tubes and relocating them. The nice thing is this is the gauge cluster that goes with this engine package. So I wont need an after marker speedometer cable or tranny gear to get the speedometer to work. The tach I'm not sure I think I can run it off the coil like in the old days this one was run by the computer for Turbo FI etc I think. Even if it don't work it looks nice this car will rarely see 3k rpm. The gas gauge will not be used either just the temp, oil, amps. I have some snaps..
