Finished mounting the body and started trying to fit everything together so that it looks alright. Didn't want to cut to much out of the firewall and wanted to make sure I could still drive down the street without taking out the oil pan. Had to make special mounting for the rad, couldn't make it sit on the cross member without have a 12 high rad so i moved it in front of the cross member and located my fan above the cross member. Got the rad height right at least I think so. The look is what I want should even look meaner when we chop 2" out of the roof.
Finally got around to chanelling the truck dropped it 3.5 inches on the frame, going to leave the box the same. Leaving the box up it gives the chop that i'll do later even a meaner look from behind. Only problem now will be my rad has to be even shorter because of my 3 inch kickup to make it work, probly have to get a custom one made now.
Just put the motor in and trying to figure out how high to mount it for clearance and whether I channel the body. Pretty tight and I gave it a extra three inches over a 32 frame. My firewall is very straight and I don't want to chop it up that much. Did a quick mock-up of the grill and the 4-71 i'm going to put on it. I've got a 327 375 hp I'll stick in later once it is redone. I think i'll channel it four inches throughout box and cab should look pretty mean going to chop it two inches also.
Here is a shot of my panhead bar I bought for 2 bucks and my wishbones cleaned up and ends welded in, Lookig for a different steering box everyone uses vega's and I would like to be different, any one have any Ideas? Another shot of my ladder bars and coil overs, just got everything tacked, I'll pull it all apart later and tig it up.
Just finished up installing the ladder bars and crossmember, used a hilti laser to get everything exact. Worked out fairly good, still have to make the panhead bar, got the heims and bar at a swap meet for 2 dollars if you can believe that, but i guess I got lucky.
