Cut out the parts that were supposedly the roof, Two door skins from some kind of 50's car pretty neat idea but wasn't done very well. I'm going to reuse the skins but use a straight edge and a tape measure this time. Started bracing the pieces with 1/2" tube as i start fitting them back in properly.

Don't know how many times a person does this during a build but you pile everything back together just to get a idea of what it'll look like. Not sure if I will shorthen the box or not, I would like to chop it three inches still undecided about everything.

10-23-2006 10:16 PM Roof Work
Someone over the last 70 years had decided it might be a good idea to put a couple of door skins in place of the roof insert. Good idea if you knew what you were doing and had a tape measure. Neither of which they had, split the roof from the rest of the body and going to start refitting it again, but right this time.

Been busy cutting up the body and adding tubing to reinforce the body. Used 60 feet of tube already and just picked up another sixty today.

10-11-2006 10:54 PM Putting Back The Pieces
Just been trying to get everything back together so that it looks like a truck spent almost two full days sanding down the old paint and trying to make the body lines match up. Got a lot of work left an old Chevy's is about as thick as a American beer can up here in Canada. Going to take the box and sandblast it tomorrow seems to be a bit more steel here than the rest, hopefully it'll go good.
