Prepainted door jambs as described last entry. Also here are a couple of in-progress frame shots. In the process of fitting it w/ exhaust pipes, fuel lines, brake lines, home-made spare tire mount, gas tank etc.
I pre-painted the firewall, door jambs, under hood, interior so I can bolt it all together and paint the cab as one piece on the frame. If I ever get some time between weddings, father's days, mother's days, birthdays, etc., I might finish by summer's end.
Color is Ford zinc yellow. We drove a Mustang convertible with this yellow and white trim on our vacation in Hawaii last year and I fell in love with it.
Finally got my fenders painted. Here are three photos of them on racks outside drying in the sun. Color is a custom mix of white white. In the sun it burns your eyes! Can't see for a few seconds after looking at it. PERFECT!! I sprayed them with Nason base/clear urethane. AWESOME paint. I'm a Nason junkie now! I really piled on the third coat of clear and only got two minor sags that will scrape out with a razor blade in a coupe of minutes. The finish is so smooth I think it will color sand w/ 2000 right off the bat. How cool are those Caddy lights?!?
Oh, and take notice of my science project. Several of those weeds are over 8' tall!! Can anyone top that from their back yard gardens?
Here are three shots of the fender stands I made to help in finishing and painting the four fenders. I got tired of wrestling the awkward shaped fenders balanced on trash cans so I built these of 2x4s using 3" drywall screws. They cost about $40 in materials but are well worth the investment. The fenders are now chest high and accessible from every angle so I was able to cherry them out easily and painting is a dream.
