03-10-2008 05:54 PM Machining Fuel Rail Stock/Fit Up
Pic 1. Here is the bug catcher mounted. Pic is kind of blury. Guess it was all the excitement.

Pic 2. Just another shot.

Pic 3. As I figured. I left the rail a little longer. It hits the TP sensor. No problem I have to trim it and the cut the threads for O-Ring -10an fittings.

Pic 1. I again used the values from the location of the holes that were machined into the plate again using the digital readout.

Pic2 . Here they are all done. Sweet huh.

Pic 3. Mocked up on the plate with injectors. Everything lines up perfect. I have to make fuel rail hold downs next.

03-10-2008 05:46 PM Machining Fuel Rail Stock
Ok now we are ready for Ross Machine Fuel rail stock to be machined for the injectors. I used the Ross machine tool again.

Pic 1. Cutting the fuel rail to length with the band saw and left some over-hang.

Pic 2. Even thought my band saw is pretty sqaure I always square up most of my material in the Bridgeport.

Pic 3. The fuel rail is odd shaped and the roundness on the bottom does not allow it to sit square in the vice. I used some key stock in the vice and indicated X and Y to get it as close as perpendicular to the tool as possible.

Pic 1. This side all done.

Pic 2. Flipped plate over and used a large piece of angle as a "stop" so I don't have to take the cutting tool out and fine the edge again with an edge finder.

Pic 3. Plate is done. Mocked up with bugcatcher and blower.
