later Mini Cooper all electric power steering
I know that Toyotas electric power steerings (EPS) have a "fail safe" built into their electronics, and will work with just two or three wires connected to the hot rod. And I have heard about the Internet guy that make a widget to provide a vehicle speed signal and whatever else is required for those Saturn and such EPS units that seem to demand seeing some vehicle signals before the electric steering computer will work properly.
I happen to have the whole steering including column, computer, u-joints, shafts, down to rack & pinion, out of a junk yard Mini Cooper. My stuff was for the later vehicles that didn't use just electric power steering pumps (that seem prone to failure).
Does any one know if my rendition of EPS has an equivalent fail safe circuit? And does anyone have a wire schematic defining what wire goes where?
