My shop is 36 x 30 x 9. I started out with 3 rows of (3) 4' 2 tube fluorescents 32 years ago. Good for young eyes. Got a little older and changed to 3 rows of (3) 8' fluorescents (18 tubes). I then replaced them in the same configuration with 8' fixtures each containing (4) 4' led tubes. (36 tubes). Holy cow! What a difference! I have been in operating rooms not as bright as my shop is. Great for old eyes. Probably about half the cost for juice.
One thing I have not seen mentioned is the longevity. I used to be replacing a fluorescent tube here and there all the time. I haven't had an LED go out yet. Going on three years.
Oh yeah! You can not have too much light. Even with the bright light in the shop I still find myself wearing my headlight at times. LOL
