Locating the center, for a rotisserie....

I'm building a body rotisserie and was wondering how do you find the balanced center of your car, so you can mount it properly on the rotisserie? Guess? Do you just make sure you have some adjustment holes drilled, so you can raise it or lower it, if you need to?

I just guessed when I built mine. It worked okay with a good sized bar to control the rotation. The adjustable centering sounds like a good idea if you plan on using it on many different vehicles over the years. If I made another rotisserie, I'd keep the bore from being to sloppy on the axis, it caused some binding. Now if I only had a lathe...

I've seen several plans, but these look to be the best. This one was made for a charger so, I'm having to figure out a different configuration on the pieces that attach to the frame.

Don't worry. You build it according to the plans....when you fasten it to the car it will rotate. When I had my '62 on one I thought it would never spin, but it did with one hand. Look thru my photo album and I have the same pics and then some. I can also send you everything I have in the way of plans. About 5 different types including the one you have now.
