The "Maybe I'll go rob a bank later" project car thread

Found a pair of 1940 Chevy 2 doors on craigslist near me. Almost all the glass, most all the trim, one has bumpers and the Chevrolet hood script. $1500 for the pair.

Suicide by excitement would be how I died if I could buy them.

Ill try to post the pics in a minute

Doesn't look like they've moved in a while. Put a few hundred down and find the rest.

Looks like a bargain if you can scratch up the money.
But those are 1941's, the headlights on a 40 protrude out of the fender more than the 41's. The 1940's marker lights are on top of the fender and the 1941's marker lights are under the headlights.

Picture of a 1940.

Of course I'm kind of partial to the 41's, here is mine.

Yep, no running boards, headlights in the fenders, rounded grille. All make them a '41, not '40. Still a bargain price, but a '40 is a bit more desirable. I'd figure out some deal with the sellers, if I wanted them. Maybe even payments, and a couple hundred more in the deal for them accepting payments. IF I really wanted them.
