I am building a 32 truck, it is steel but I did the floor in sheet metal on top of a small frame made of 1x2 square tubing. I am not sure what you would like to know and a picture of your current floor would answer so many questions.

That might generate some fresh ideas from us viewers

Here is a recent thread that has some good links to pictures of steel reinforcing installed in bodies, , and a good discussion about steel reinforcing.

https://www.hotrodders.com/forum/help...dy-137358.html

Please read down a few posts,(starts at post 7), in that thread and then be sure to click on the links to wescotts.

Here is the link anyway.

Hope this helps,
Mikey

Could I ask...

Mikey:

Could I ask you a question? PoliForm makes Ford Model A five windows. Do you remember how they manage the floor? I attached a figure showing how I think the inner structure should be. If I am using a 32 like chassis, I need just a plate of steel because the chassis surrounds the body , but a Model A chassis has the rails in a inner position. In this case I need to use some structural shaped metal to build my body sub frame. Does it should be “U” shaped? Up or down? Any help /idea will be usefull…

Poli-Form only built model A roadsters, not closed cars, ( 'cept the 34 coupe). Wescotts builds a 5 window, IIRC.

The steel in the floor was 1/8" x 1 1/2" flat bar, edge bent to lay over the body mounting holes at the cowl, door front door rear , and at the tab on the frame at the back of the body.

You could put some 3/4" x 1 1/2 rectangular tubing in the channels that are in the floor, if it is molded like the original.

That would give you a place to bolt a seat rail, if you are not using a seat tray like the stocker. They'd also be a good place to bolt some seatbelts.

Later, mikey
