motor mounts for BBC in 2nd Gen F-body?

hi all
getting some conflicting information on this...I've got a 1979 Trans Am, currently it has a Chevy 350 in it, and a TH400...I've got a Mk IV 454 I'm going to put in there...I've read that the existing motor mounts on the 350 are the same and can be used on the 454, and I've seen the opposite, saying I need different mounts...anybody know the answer to this?

Thanks

Mike

The frame mounts are slightly different for the small block and big block engines. Engine mounts are the same for both. Classic sells them for $70 a pair - saves the hassle of trying to find the right ones. Used ones are a big unknown unless you have the dimensions.

The frame towers for the BBC's are shorter then the SBC frame mounts. To keep the engine lower for hood and M/C clearance.

The 69 Camaro big block mounts move the engine about an inch to the right. I found this to be a big help when putting the 454 in the '53 when using the 67/69 (74 Nova) Camaro sub frame. Exhaust clearance can be challenging without spending a lot of money.

Also, they were still stocked by RockAuto much cheaper than I found them for from the speed shops.
