Thanks guys for the info. I wondered why they did not have a speedometer cable on the truck. I will be getting one from the junk yard and rebuild with a shift kit and performance clutches and stuff. Thanks

|M&M CUSTOM||Something you will need not yet mentioned- is an adapter to change the mechanical speedometer drive on the TH-350, to an electronic pulse generator for the truck.|

I replaced the TH700 in my 91 Caprice with a TH350 and all i had to do was getting the longer tailshaft. I was able to keep the stock crossmember.

|Rubberman2003||Yeah like stated the tailshaft is the biggest concern on a truck IMO. My 84z28 came from the factory with a 700r4/ I replaced this with a turbo 350. I just had to get the right length tailshaft, and a adapter bracket to let me use my factory torque arm (which you dont have to worry about). Good luck|

there are 3 different lengths of the t-350 transmission in a 2 wheel drive design.
there is a :
6 inch tail housing,
a 9 inch tail housing
and the 12 inch long tail housing.
The 12 inch tail housing is not real common... the 9 inch tail housing is near identical in length of the 700r4 transmission.
The transmissions from Jegs or Summit are remanufactured units , they are not brand new.

Can I put a turbo 350 in place of 700r4?
Hello guys I just bought a 1996 chevy s10 with a 350 vortec and what looks to be a 700r4. As far as I can tell the 700r4 does not have any electronics. I looked underneath the truck and it looks like all the original stock crossmembers and everything else is the same that came with the truck. What I am wondering can I swap this tranny out for a turbo 350 and be able to keep everything else the same with out customizing? Also is the turbo 350 about the same size as the 700r4? I know some may say leave it as it is but I like the turbo cause its cheaper to build and from what I can tell there are a lot more extras for them ready then the 700r4. I can get a brand new turbo350 from summit or jegs for around $700. Well thanks for any help.
