I have a narrowed ford 9" in my 73 Duster. It has a full spool and 3.93 gears. What type/weight of oil should I use?

ok so you dont need friction modifier either. I'll probably go buy it tomorrow. The only other stuff I've found that has been recommended (cause I do like to punch it a lot on the street) is Redline Heavy Shockproof Gear Oil. I dont know if I will need it, I haven't been to the drag yet, but I do like to slam the pedal as much as I can.

It's your car but I have to ask, how well does your Duster drive on the street with a full spool? Those are usually strictly for the drag strip.

well it's not bad actually, I just dont drive it in the rain (which I wouldn't do anyways) and I dont break the tires loose around corners. I stay cautious of uneven parts of road and just pay attention. The full spool isnt my first choice for a street car either, but this 9" came with it and I haven't been able to afford the swap I want to do. The weight savings is nice though, and not having to worry about a posi going bad is nice.

I know you can turn corners with them, we use one in our S10. I would be more concerned about the stresses put on the axles and related parts.
I've had mine in a big HP and big tire car for 6 years and never any problems or axle related breaks. Most of my customers that are doing a big HP car request spools and no problems with them either.

Granted these cars are driven to cruise nights and around town on nice days.NOT what you would put 10K miles a year on. However I do like to use at least a 35 spline axle also.
