[email protected] The wheelbase difference is from the front crossmember being moved ahead in the frame rails and a spacer added to the trans crossmember. Basic frame rails are the same as the Ford of the same years. 41-48.

The last time I used a Merc frame. It was to replace a rusted and damaged 42 blackout coupe that I restored. The 42 Ford crossmember fit the Merc frame using the Ford holes, already in the frame and the trans crossmember was the same, less spacer. Some body mounts were a bit different but the Ford was a short door coupe and the Merc was a 4-door. I just used the coupe body mounts on the sedan frame. The Merc drivers door fit the Ford with minor work on the top rear corner.

I have built a few of these old Fords.. They used to be cheap cores, as few people wanted the "Big" Fords built after 1940. I fell in love with them as a kid in the fifties/sixties. First was a 47 Merc coupe. Powered it with a nailhead Buick.. Tranny and rear axle killer!

ok there is 4 in diff in wheel base. is that difference in the front of frame due to longer front end on mercury? will my ford body bolt to the merc frame and i modify front of frame by 4 in when changing suspension?

The Ford is 114" wheelbase with 56 1/2" track.
The Mercury is 118" wheelbase with 56 1/2" track.
