4 hour work day for me at the shop. Used the time to do a valve body swap on a '01 Jetta 1.8t auto .... I successfully installed a transbrake on the car .... that however wasn't my intention.

Its in 2 gears at once in park, all other gears (R/N/D/2/1) are forward gears.... they all seam to be first gear.

I have it torn back down most of the way. Tuesday I'll actually get the VB back out and see whats up.... but part of me wants to take it out for a test drive the way it is just for the fun of it.

....and it shall be more good.:) Be the most bestest more gooder maker.

done.
That crack was about my engine running like ka ka earlier today when I installed a PCV and breather and everything went to stink.

Thank stars, it was only some (probably Pugsy inflicted) debris in the idle circuit which a bit of compressed air seemed to take care of.

PCV and breather are both hooked up now. Need to get the correct valve and new grommet, but this temporary hookup will keep the sniffer cops at bay while I take the car to the mechanics.

Well................Nick out canyon carving bumped a curb and we had to bring the car back to the shop to check it's alignment, didn't do a thing, it was just a tap thank goodness. Well it was there we adjusted the parking brake and took care of a few other things, under body shield that was loose, took care of a rattle that was driving him nuts. All in all, that little sucker HANDLES! HOLY CRAP that thing HANDLES!

When I think of the things I did with my Gran Sport like sway bars and steering box and gas shocks and all that, it really handles damn good. This little Miata makes it look like a friggin school bus, holy crap!

Suns out, put the top down, what a nice little drive.

He has been having such fun with it, taking it out to roads I use to go all the time on my motorcycle and my Gran Sport, across the bay by "Alice's Restaurant" LOL Hyws 35/92/9 having FUN for sure! He took it up Mount Hamilton https://www.sfgate.com/outdoors/sundaydrive/article/Sunday-drive-Mount-Hamilton-loop-2537803.php after work the other night.

He is having a ball and I am so happy to see it.

bike i was on the rear axle came loose slid back and locked the while thing up , while trying to avoid broadsiding another rider comming over a bblind hill.

there was just nothing i could do
Same as last time, happy healing. Sounds like Murphy's law got the drop on you.

Yesterday at the last cross street before home, a kid on a bicycle nearly took my freedom and car. I had no stop sign but the cross street does. Kid is planning to ride straight across but does not look until too late. I had already seen him and he was going faster than me but all within one second, we saw each other and he braked, realized it wasn't enough, and laid it down just as I passed. I'm not that fast, best I coulda done was bump him but not run him over. He managed to land in grass and got up and rode away lickety split. Nobody was around and I'd have been crucified by parents who raised kids that ignorant. Theres one family with a bunch of kids that are almost like a herd of cattle across the highway. They expect you to drive through a crowd with six inches on either side while they holler "Give me your car!" Kids these days got a sense of entitlement the size of Texas. I ain't even feeling grumpy, thats just how it is. In summer you just have to stop down the street and wait for them to see you and part so you can get home. That is the most precarious driving condition I can imagine. At least when I'm in the purple car they acknowledge my existence when I need by.

Does my grump fest rant even out Brian's heavenly bliss post? If not, heres more.

I also mowed the back yard today finally. Makes my blood boil just going out there, still. All the crap the neighbor threw onto my property... and the gigantic dead tree thats aimed at my garage... muttering drowned out by mower was best I could do and I left the last few yards by the fence uncut. Screw it, I don't even want to go back there anymore because one more cop call with false accusations might set me off. I have to be real careful since that kid busted my arm and got away with it. It may be fall before I see my way clear to pick up in the yard.

These things are why I call the '69 my sanity preservation machine, and why I hate to drive it anymore with so many people trying to destroy. The world is cruel to shiny things!

On a positive note, the GP drives fine in the rain now. Good grip and the new wiper blades are quietest ever.

We, finally, got a real spring day today...60° and a slight breeze. The wife and I spent 4 hours cutting down buckthorn trees in the woods behind the house. Then we sat on the porch swing and watched the snow melt out in the front yard. Well, about 15 minutes of that and we were walking around the front, looking at tree limbs that need trimming out there. We also have a Maple tree that we put weed block and mulch around about 10 years ago. Maples grow wider at the bottom and the roots start to surface. The fabric was up on the trunk at about a 45° angle from all the growth and the mulch had turned to soil, so we ripped the fabric up and just put 4" of mulch around the base. Looks way better than it has for a few years.
Then I got the '38 out of the storage side of the shop and we went to dinner. We just got done watching a Netflix movie and are close to turning in for the day. It was a GREAT day and very productive.

this is the shoulder i destroyed about 5 years ago , thats why its so bad this time , so ive got about 6-9 months before my shoulder is useable , figure another 4-6 months to build it back up , and a whole nother year or more before i can ride back at my full skill level again
Dang. It. Usable at all sounds good to me. Will they do a shoulder replacement eventually, you think? Those joint replacements they do now seem to work mighty well. But those are probably more for wear than damage. Your poor tissues other than bone gotta be a mess. Just hold still and ride it out, pardon the pun. Think of the drifting mishaps you may have avoided.:)

this will only slow me down for minimal time , as soon as i can stand to be back on a bike again ill be out there riding again

atleast i got a nice ride in 2 weeks ago

my big bike is currently blown up

broke all the valve springs , its going back together with a 14-1 cr piston , titainium valves , new springs , licks retainers , cams, and a race port head, i had a low compression 10.5-1 piston in it this year , big overbore of course

if u think valve trains are expensive for a car try a bike
600$ for cams
400-450$ for 4 valves
100$ for locks and retianers
and 115$ for valve springs

Yesterday I finished up welding the spring brackets for my trailer onto the channels. Since the trailer frame is round tubing, I welded the spring perches to a length of channel, and will then weld that to the frame. That will also let me adjust the position easily to get it 'squared'. Once my oxygen regulator comes in I can get the hot wrench working again to cut the axles off of the frame.

This is what I was working on Friday. The one piece I'll probably be less than satisfied with. The driveshaft tunnel I made has the center hump not quite centered so this part has to look a bit crooked. I made the pattern as usual by outlining one side then folding it over in the middle and thats when I knew I was in trouble. It won't be as bad after fine tuning but boy does it look whopperjawed in pics. Not real proud of that but the rest should make up for it, and I'll be on cloud nine once the footwells are in for good. In the pic you can see the side extensions where those will connect now with a simple overlap.

While I'm at it, heres the GP with small tires too. I'll get used to it. Brakes work nice with just one tire size difference from front to rear.

Boy did I ever get in trouble with Ms. Grape for posting that. Told me I might as well have showed her passed out in front of the TV drooling in a bowl of tater chips with curlers in her hair. Woops. That angle does make her butt look big. Here she is fully awake, bright eyed and bushy tailed, seated amongst complimentary flowers albeit on a dreary day. She said the bank entrance shot lends an air of dignity and affluence and what-not. Showed her that post when we went for tasty AM chow just now, and she durn near made a scene. She insisted I march straight home and post these pictures right this minute! I sure am crazy about her even after all these years but I hope she don't ping my dome with a rolling pin later. I believe she was concerned what Marge and Precious might think of her. She liked cerial's flower box though. We wondered if theres a cave in that hill.:D
