I am catching up on indoor crap and having thoughts of pumping the coolant out of the GTP as a start. Meanwhile me and the GT have some errand duties.
Of course I will work in some more bWOOps a bit later.

|Too Many Projects||
Went to work today to R&R a LEFT rear wheel bearing on a '91 SL500. I R&R'd the right one last week, that wasn't the right one and the alignment guy was ballistic on Monday morning. I explained Dave looked at the work order TWICE and proclaimed it was the right side. Guess it was like man earrings in the eighties. Left is right and right is wrong... Anyway, it has a new LEFT rear bearing now too...
DAMN, the park brake inside the disc is the strangest POS, PITA to take out and put back. I still beat book time by an hour, but if the brake was easier to do, I could have saved at least 1/2 hour more.
Came home and brought all the batteries from the cars into the basement. Forecast is for overnight low's around minus 10 degrees by Tuesday. Not happy that they need to be in the house, but I'm not leaving them out in the un-heated shop to drain down and go dead from the cold. Buying 6 new batteries next spring isn't in the budget...

My whole morning was spent on a phone. I did get confirmation that my new gap coverage was approved and will start 1/1/20. Then I had to call BC/BS and cancel my current policy, which they won't renew anyway because I moved out of their service area. "Oh, you have to mail us a letter to dis-enroll"....huh ? I can't do that online, since everything else involved with this policy is online ? NOPE, government requires a written letter... Whatever...Then I dropped off a package at UPS to go back to Amazon. Another piece of junk I shouldn't have bought.
THEN, I got to do some car stuff. Since next week is forecast to be in the deep freeze, I loaded up Maliblue, my sons name for the car, on the rollback and strapped it down in the 28 degree weather. If I get the chance to drop it off at Centerline next week, it will be ready to roll.

Today at the good gas getting place, I pulled up behind a shiny, black, stock with mellow duals... 72 Monte. Had to chuckle at myself for wanting to throw out a compliment because hey that shoe never goes on that foot! The man was already getting in to leave so I didn't because I know how it is. What a fine ride though, man o man. I was getting a good enjoy off the exhaust note as he drove away but then the gas pump TV thing started and drowned it out before I could hit the mute button.
Did not work on crap today, not feeling like myself somehow. Finally had the opportunity to call and get my next years' health insurance squared away but got a busy signal. I had not heard a busy signal since I don't know when. Long time!
Was wanting to lay that burden to rest before the Friday afternoon rip-snort. But I took The Loud One out anyway. She really honks the four barrel now, the carb cleaner glug I gave it seems to be improving something. bWOOOOp I'll have to find a spot and do some first gear back barrel dumps later, for big enjoys.
Which may be possible because no busy signal after ride. Tried again and got insurance handled. Fifty a month less than I've been paying second half of this year. Now I can forget that and work on whittling down the Christmas mental burden.

The white bu had a 137,000 miles and needed a LOT of neglected maintenance. It spent a few weeks in the old "shop" getting all that and then the thermostat failed during the 20's below zero weather last February, while we were in TX. It, also, had the dreaded steering position sensor failure on him and I replaced the sensor too. Since then, it has been behaving itself, but is far rustier than the blue car and the interior looked like it was a garbage dump when I got it. $100 for interior cleaning got it looking better, but it will never look clean. His girlfriend said she will miss the heated seats in the white car, as it is an LTZ...
All my hours at Centerline are being banked against the Blue Bu's repair, so no out of pocket expense for the straightening, but there will be several hundred in parts anyway.

Thank you for the Dr Seuss style reply sentence, you are sharp as a tack. Man it is fun to let the welder eat once in awhile.
As little as we have heard about the white car, it must have been serving Adam nobly. I remember there were things you didn't like about it as opposed to ol bluebu. Maybe someday you two can really do the snowbird thing. Never say never.

Another thing or two, follow ups... GTP did good today but that leak ain't getting no better. I have another idea about coolant elbow delete but shower and bed beckon so I'll save that.
My eldest device was sufficiently so as to be ineligible for the browser update. That means it still works like it did, for posting. I still don't have the rythym down on the new version but its coming. It did add some annoying steps to lunchtime phone posts but I'll get over it.

The Blue Bu will go back to the son, when done. The White POS I bought for him when he crashed this will get sold. When we were seriously, well I was seriously, considering buying a winter place in FL, we were thinking we would leave the white one down there, but THAT isn't going to happen now.
Anyway, Junk Jeep picks.
Access hole to weld inside the top rail and the inside and bottom too, as long as I was in there burning wire. And I mean I burned wire...Lincoln all the way up on high and wire speed almost there too. In other words, I welded the be-jeep-ers out of that frame...
Then I cut off a flap from the replacement motor mount box and re-purposed it as a template to cut out gussets to weld over the holes.
Then it was time to bolt the engine down and see if the frame would hold it.
Bottle jack still supporting the engine and then not...it's hanging..
The owner brought us a "replacement" front axle assembly to install...what a rusted POS !!! I managed to get the control arms bolted up and the springs and shocks installed for it to hang there on it's own, but I couldn't turn the hubs side to side. The front drive axle u-joints and ball joints were rusted in place !!! I ended up knocking the tie rods off to beat the hubs back and forth enough to loosen them up a LITTLE, but it isn't good. I swapped the rotors and calipers from the original axle on, to eliminate dealing with the rusted, stuck crap on the axle and got it on the stands for Dave to finish the straightening.

Good to see it finally about to get the needed attention. Having a spare knockaround car in winter is handy whether you intend to put it back in service or not.
Hope your health insurance efforts bear fruit. I know I am dead meat next year but intend to try making the call for help in getting it all straight again tomorrow during business hours. I am absolutely helpless in choosing a plan, the numbers they give are gibberish so it ends up being a close your eyes and put a finger on one deal, pretty much. Arg
When the fire dep't sent out the first alert, it was before they knew what was ablaze. It said "irritating smoke". Second one followed with words like toxic and evacuate came just a few minutes before they got it snuffed. Then on the news the chief said "any smoke is toxic".
The community takes their Chicken Little seriously. Alarmist co-workers donned respirators, one had to go to his kid. And so on.
Camera left on rack? Classic Mitchism.
By the way I was gonna spew this too... yesterday I noticed the brand new browser "updated" (can you say patch?) and now... this is wierd... I just used the thanks button on the phone. Wow! Such high cotton. I think they put the durn new version out while it was still beta. Dadburn their hides.

When you printed "chemical fire"...that is always a major concern, Glad it wasn't a truly toxic situation.
I got the donator frame section on the Jeep yesterday but left the camera on the frame rack when I went home..
I enlisted the help of the 2other shop guys to get the complete, replacement, front axle assembly up on the rack and got it situated enough to start the 2 upper control arm bolts. That assembly will be completely installed and wheel stands on the brake discs today, ready for final tweaking of the frame. Looking forward to having that done by next Monday, when I will install the sheet metal and the owner then wants it to start all his mods.
Then I will be taking the '06 Malibu in and getting that on the rack and pulled back into shape. It won't get paint beyond a coating of something to prevent rust, but it will be straight again.

The 'P was down most of a gallon of coolant. I gotta do something but a new strategy is brewing, for the elbow war. I may try plastic elbows with some teflon tape. A cap and system pressure tester is something I'll have to invest in. Don't guess the coolant level sensor I griped about is on the blink after all. I was warned.
The fire was styrofoam.
It started outside the place then got inside. Long damn day for the fire chief. He was on the news saying don't come look, theres weak power poles and such. Boy I bet its a mess like he said. He added that styrofoam, which burns hot, fast, and no matter what... is about totally consumed when burnt. So it could have been worse but with the stink, the smoke you could see from Missouri, and the initial unknown factor, it freaked a lot of folks out. Knocked out power for many. Only one person was said to have sought medical attention.

I haven't checked the news to see what happened but I guarantee if theres a blame receptacle, they are in hot water. That column of smoke was going for probably an hour. First thing I did was check on the folks, they are closer. They were aware.
I got too disrupted over the job dance at work last couple weeks, I guess... and forgot to keep an eye on coolant in the GTP so today she poked the gauge needle in my eye like HEY! Thirsty over here. Oops, sorry baby. I'll do better. I served her a drink at lunch and think she mellowed out. She was wagging the gauge... five miles after a cold start, 240ish. Soon as you see the spike she goes aw I wasn't doing nothing and drops back to 160 in a few seconds. She's a freak on a leash.
