Can it be fancy and sloppy at the same time? I'd like for it to turn out looking somewhat premeditated. However...

Audio hadn't crossed my mind. Thanks for the prompt, there will be an inquiry. After all, its a regular cab pickup. I predict a level of audio that has one woof under the seat just so they don't miss out on anything in the songs. Nice head unit people but not jammer-outers.

The kicks were going in no matter how the steps and beads looked. They are just non-floppy supports with hand holes. With those screwed in, cab is stiff enough to remove my hokey arsed dash to pan supports but I'll have it apart again. Looking to remove cab or bed now and get new metal along the brown bottomed rear. Of the cab. Boss ordered a universal hood latch today for it.

No style or precision awards to be had there, just kick panels. Holes provide some access for lower hinge pin and behind the inner fender mount pad.

BTW & FYI: On the ribbed 18 gauge braces, the bottom one was made from part of the first version of the toe board. Top one was made from part of that bumped out firewall panel that was aborted, and the vertical center support is about to be. I am enjoying this.

idrivejunk You know if we were just working on muscle cars we wouldn't have this problem.

I thought the mysteries surrounding that had been solved. Since I am using stock panels and wrong hinges, I don't know that this is akin to what you'll run into. What I do know is you can handle it. If I may be able help you, let me know. Can't have you running around in poopy drawers.

I have a hinge design, but the fun part of moving them a hunert times lies ahead....

idrivejunk I liked the little 18" angle pieces in the corners so well, I decided to give them a permanent home. They should be enough if worked into the structure sturdily and theres just not going to be room for any tubing behind the dash-

The tube shown will go between bottoms of hood hinge pockets (but straight across) and connect the angle stock. Another pair of tubes will probably go back to the A pillars just below that. Then below that, at the toe board bend I am planning a sheetmetal cross brace. I intend to plug weld a sheetmetal reinforcement to the bottom of the cowl top, in the seal channel, and tie the ends onto the angle stock in sheetmetal somehow. The short tubes seen below hinge pockets will be replaced by a wing on the outside of the angle piece, and below the toe bend, between wall and pan, I plan a sheetmetal panel not unlike the stock one. So when its all added up along with body mount and pillar corner reinforcements, structural integrity should be fine. As discussed earlier, to prevent ghosting on the upper firewall (above toe bend), there will be no direct connection to the face of it but a close spacing of the support structure for seam sealer dabs in between.

I am watching it develop in my head but only a step or two ahead of what you see.
