Rip, I got 2 x T Coupes, one (Black colour) has a flat firewall as per the pic's attached, while the other I reversed, which works out to be a pretty good deal as you lose no foot space just a little space under the dash.
My reversal was pretty basic, but with a little extra time spent you could get it looking pretty slick.
I did my reversal on the car.

Well Well Well I have returned.
So the shop is almost complete and I marked a milestone on this episode of "Hey Lets move and Build a Garage" adventure!
Today marks the first official work resumes on the TCoupe project. I actually got dirty, smacked a shin, and drilled a bunch of rivets out of the firewall in the coupe.
When I moved the car from my old place to storage I just set the body on the chassis then secured it with ratchet straps. I noted it was not setting right but I just needed to keep the chassis and body together through the move and storage.
So now that I can get back on the project I went about to identify why the body was not setting right. First thing I noted was the body was too far back on the frame and the wheel was not centered in the wheel well. The body needs to move forward 1 1/2 inches give or take a 1/2 inch.
Looking forward on the front of the body I see the firewall is hitting the back of the left cylinder head. The firewall bulges forward at this point and hits the back of the left head. The Lower part of the firewal steps in from about the midline down.
It looks like if I go with a flat firewall I just may get the space I need to move the body forward. I also am looking at possibly flipping the firewall around and have it recess into the front. Midway down I would build in the toe board and all will fit.
So before I get too wild I need to remove the firewall and get the body where it needs to be to see just what will work for the firewall.
I had thought of moving the engine forward but I cant do that or the tires will hit the lead pipe on my headers.
At any rate I got in a couple of hours drilling rivets and looking for spot welds. It feels damn nice to be back on the T in my new shop. I still have more finish work in the shop to do like get the overhead air put in and power and light overhead reels installed. Plenty of tools to add to replace what I left behind.
Finally onward back on the TCoupe Project. Whaaaaaaaa Hoooooooo

Hey there IDJ yeah I will occasionally peep. but try not to make a habit of it. ha ha
Site work got a slow start this morning just after they showed up and was starting work we had a series of Thunder cells one after another roll through and the guys being smart said they would return when the cells were done. They returned about 2 1/2 hours later and the weather was quite nice for several hours. They started digging and went about 15 feet and struck the water line to my house. The repair took a couple a trips to the hardware store and about 2 hours of downtime but they got back on it, and by 5:00 pm had 75% of the footings dug.
Here is an interesting side note: About 3 1/2 months ago I called for line locate service. They sent a guy out and he spent a couple of hours mapping power water phone cable etc. They told me they would only trace to the meter but no farther past the edge of my property on the sewer.
So I take photos measure marks and document all the utilities. on paper. I still needed the sewer mapped where it comes across my yard. Short story I hired a locate on my dime
He comes out maps the sewer with depth and location. While he was here I had him confirm the water line location. he marked it all the way to the house.
Well hitting the water line where it was NOT supposed to be was the first clue someone missed the boat big time. the water line was mapped on the other side of the building 30 feet away from where we struck it! I don't know what he was following but the water line was marked clear of the area.
As they are digging the dirt away from the water line they find the main sewer line running next to the water line. It was supposed to be 8 feet away but it was not there but here. we were so lucky we only hit the water line and not the sewer line. I and the contractor were flabbergasted. This was totally screwed up by the independent Locators, they were so far off I thought I heard Chinese being spoken. I guess the old "Trust But Verify" is still a valid policy.
So tomorrow they will finish the footing dig and put the forms down. The contractor has set a aggressive schedule as they will call for inspection on the footings Next Monday Morning and they will pour concrete at 2:00 pm. The basic framing will commence soon after 48 hours or more and the trusses are scheduled for delivery on the 13th and onward from there. Keeping at this pace I will be moving my stuff in by march 30....
I am concerned of damage on my equipment in my storage! My shop was moved to storage by a crew of movers and I didn't see anything obvious but when there is that much equipment and stuff being moved, by people that have never even seen this kind of stuff, and whom are used to moving furniture not car stuff. It may be of a some concern.. I hope I am concerned for nothing. To me the guys looked like they knew what they were doing so we shall see.
No pictures tonight but tomorrow when they get the forms down I will take a couple photos and post them up.

Times 2 on the workshop. The wife and I have an understanding that she is not allowed to place her stuff or park in my Shop. Besides she has a bay on the attached garage and her own 10 X 16 ***** Barn. (she hates the term She Shed) So I won't have to worry about her monopolizing my space.
Oh hey Brian, if you are out there this is for you... Wahhhhhhhh Hooooooooooo we finally getting under way..

Thank you Guys for the support. In about an hour from now they will be starting the excavation. This bureaucracy in this state is absolutely the most frustrating! The city I am in "Ocean Shores" has it's own set of requirements on top of the states requirements. The costs meeting all the BS things the city were substantial. If I were a business relocating I would pass this town by..
The T project is going to get a possible change on the front end with a different cross member for the axle as one of the things I did before I packed it away was start fitting the radiator and it was not fitting worth a crap! I need to lower the radiator some 4 inches and the current cross member is to far rearward. Besides the radiator I need to get the body to sit properly on the chassis and that will require trimming the forward bottom of the cowl. The 32 frame is not flat. from just aft of the relief in the frame the rails angle up about 1/2 inch.
So I am getting a attack plan ready to go so when my stuff gets here I can jump right in instead of wandering trying to figure out where I was. I am starting to slowly get excited about this. The new shop when finished should allow me to say goodby to all the BS requirements and finish off this homestead off along with my bank account!!

Size limits ?
When my wife and I got married 11 years ago she had a 1/2 acre lot in the middle of the village and a "grandfathered" permit to build a Duplex. With the old permit it didn't expire and the only inspections were from the state for electrical, plumbing and gas lines. NO footing , framing, roof, etc. required from the village. I revised the plans and we built the 2 attached cinder block garages in the center, 24 x 36 each first. each unit is 2,000 sq ft.
Her old farm house 4 k sq ft 4 bedroom 4 bath rooms too much for just 2 of us. and STAIRS,But it had a 24 x 48 garage 2 storage sheds. in ground fruit cellar.
The 24 x 36 garage is just too small. warehouse racking 24 ft of the 36 ft side. welder. torch, plasma, 2 roll around too boxes. freezer, safe, storage cabinets. Only room for the T speedster and her Altima. I need more Room ! ! I have to move her car out in the snow to do any work.

I am soo glad I no longer have to deal with Washington State bureaucracy! I loved the years I spent in Washington and miss the friends I made but sure would hate to have to put up with those things again.
We will be expecting pictures of the build! How is the back?

Hey Friends, I'm Back.
After a bit of a respite from on line anything I feel much better... I can only take so much drama that seems to permeate the internet these days so I took a vacation and now back to work.
Today I got Great News! The City, My Contractor, and Myself finally agreed to numerous changes demanded by the city and I finally received my official Building permit revision 4.
Now before the city can change it's mind the contractor is starting tomorrow clearing and getting the footings in and ready for inspection. They are hoping the weather doesn't get much worse weather wise we are soggy here on the Coast. According to my contractor he hopes to be damn near done by the end of Feb. I can get an official sign off and finally be able to bring my T and Tools home. It has been a year now my stuff has been in storage. Of course as soon as I can move my stuff into the new shop I will have to have Electrical Done and get the Compressor set up and plumbed. So I am not back to doing much yet but this has been way too long a process. Just having the car here where I can see it daily I will get my 15 a day. Stay Tuned everyone the T project will be resumed soon. Meanwhile we shall see how quick they get this done.
The new shop will be 30’ Wide and 36 Feet deep. it is stick frame built and has reinforcing to withstand over 120 mph winds. it will have 2 10 X 10 doors and 1 36" wide walk in door and 12 foot ceilings. Gonna be nice when complete and I plan on making progress on the T and back to somewhat normal by June.
June will be 1 year I have been in this place. It is amazing at the amount of BS and hoops to do this shop build. If I had known I would run into all these environmental rules, zoning issues, neighbor complaints against the previous owners You would think I was building a chemical plant of something. Like the old line "If I knew what I know now.... So now we move forward in compound low, slow and steady. Before Long maybe second gear then look out no brakes!!!!!

Well Well Well, Here it is almost 12 months after I cut off all work on the T and switched to readying my home for sale. All of my tools and parts went into storage last January and been there since.
The garage project is turning into one big pain in my A??. First the city quashes my dream home project. I regroup and decide to expand my garage by adding on to the end but again the City nixes that and would not give me a variance I wanted to extend the existing garage. I am beginning to think the city really don't like me.. However the city is going to have to accept me as I got firmly rooted here and am ready to meet their every opposition.
So after that fiasco I went to visit one of the primary builders in this area to see what can be done and how to keep the city from vetoing my next plan.
The Builder and I found a spot in front of my house where everything fits and no special operations or special permits needed. I ask the builder if he can build my shop. Nope is what he says. "I have about 2 years of building projects booked and I have no time to build a garage..
My Original builder I was going to use before this sleigh began was also booked up till spring. This is a bit concerning but I continue to keep looking.
I do more research and make a list of 11 builders in this area that can build my shop and started out on my inquires. The building is simple 30' wide and 36 ft deep. 12 foot ceiling with a standard comp roof nothing fancy but all good space. I laid the requirements out. and submitted 11 requests to bid on the job. The results of this were absolutely un-believable.
Out of the 11 requests I got back This is what I got back the first builder must have thought I was building a Home Tajmahall. His Bid came in at $112,000 dollars. I about fainted. He really likes his building.. The next guy was a real knowledgeable builder but his bid was 20 K over what was in the budget. The third bid came in at only 10 K over budget but the guy was a complete *** H0!3. He kept ignoring me an what I wanted. He changed the building design and dimensions no less than 3 times and was argumentative when I didn't change my mind. I finally asked him who was the the boss here? He then changes his tune then he got all sweet. I have his bid setting in the "Last Resort" pile and I really don't want him to build anything for me.
That was all of the responses from 11 contractors. I called and left a message with. I was disappointed that none of the other builders had the common decency to to least call me back to tell me they are not interested. instead of just ignoring me.
I finally had my fill of Contractors and builders. I sketched what I wanted and where I wanted to put it. I then Looked up a contractor that had not called me back and packed my photos sketches and info and drove to his Business where I was told he was on a job at the time. I got the address where he was working and went to the Job to talk to him. He was nice enough to take the time to talk and we had a productive conversation. He explained that literally every construction contractor in this area was booked up at least 6 months. At this point 6 months is better than not getting it built at all so I left him my notes and drawings and he said he would look it over and give me a bid.
I got a call from him last night and his Bid is only 2 K over my budget but I like his knowledge and ideas so we will be going with him and waiting 6 more months.. ARGHGH. So in the mean time I am going to make arrangements to at least get my hand tools and some basic tools and the coupe itself and put them in my tiny garage till the big one is finished. Just maybe I can get some work going on the project. Lets Hope. Meanwhile I have the electronics lab set up and I am going to be working on my Fuel injection and harness and get that stuff ready to go so I guess not all is bad.
Today I have Fence people here sinking posts for my perimeter fence so I can get the landscaping finished when they finish.. Always something going on here no rest. hahah Of course I am working on "Beach Time" so nothing happens fast here....
So maybe in a month or so I will have something to post concerning progress on the TCoupe. in the meantime let the spending begin.. Hahahahaha.
