Ford 8.8. Unless your 8.5 is already modified internally.
Disc make for easier maintenance and stay colder on the track. As well as some unsprung weight reduction in most cases.
But, if you want better breaking as daily driver drums will deliver better stopping then disc and are less prone to sticking pins or seals rupturing.

If you want a bolt on kit, then it depends whether your S-10 8.5 was originally a drum or disc setup. Both are available and your limit will be wheel diameter. If it was a drum setup, then any kit that will work on a 7.5 S10 rear will work on the 8.5 because the flanges are the same.
If you can do a weld on kit, then the sky's the limit IMO.
What is your wheel diameter? Tell us some about the vehicle.

i put in ... "disc brake kit GM 8.5 rear end out of a 2002 S10"
and it came up with some on google.

Does anyone know if there is a Disk Brake kit that would work on a GM 8.5 rear end out of a 2002 S10? It had Disk Brakes just want newer stuff ie Wilwood or so.
