idrivejunk Mmmm Monte

A girlfriend of mine long ago had a blue 4 speed SS 70-2 before we met. Loaned it to a friend who rolled it multiple times. Thats so sad because so very few were made. That would be my favorite Chevy to own.

They are a tiny bit longer than the A body but use the same chassis parts. Like Grand Prixs that vintage.

ericnova72 This is '78-80, just minor differences in the headlights/turnsignals, '80 has 4 small rectangle headlights

'81-87 is this, minor differences between years on grill/headlight trim...and of course the '83-up Monte Carlo SS and AeroCoupe are on this body style.

73-77 this is the body style, '73-75 have large round headlight, all years have different drill bar patterns, '73 has slight different tail lights and rear bumper as it didn't have the 5mph energy absorbing crap yet. '76-77 only difference is '76 ornament in in grill, '77 it is stand alone "gunsight" on header panel. '76 has just one grill bar on taillight bezel, '77 has 4 bars.

55 Tony I guess it's just the way I remembered the one owned by a girl who everyone um, uh, *knew*. I had I think a 78, like you said smaller. And it was just a little step toward the later boxy look with straighter lines. Mine was about 11 years old when I bought with I think 37K miles on it and people thought it was new. I really liked it but traded it in to buy my first company van when I started my business. It was up to about 100K miles then.

ericnova72 That Monte is one of the first 3 years they were made, 1970, 71, 72....minor differences in turn signal size, shape, or color and grill tooth pattern are all that tell those years apart, body panels are all the same(and some parts shared with '68-72 Chevelle - rear glass, rear glass trim, trunk lid, trunk weatherstrip, and more). Could get an SS454 model in these

Next body style is '73-77 , bigger and longer, more pontoon like shape to fender bulges- beginning of the "Colonnade" styling......styling the same with years in this group, minor differences in front trim and bumpers but body majorly all the same for these years. Could get a 454 in these in '73, but watered down and no SS model anymore.

'78-80 is next body change, smaller, metric chassis. Still has a rather prominent "pontoon" arch to the fender and quarters, but much smaller car..

final restyle was 81-87, still on metric chassis. "Pontoon" shape to fenders and quarters is just a small body line now.

55 Tony Drove by and took a pic from the front, the driveway is long so with cropping the pic is small. Then on my way back home I saw the guy who owns the property and the hood was up. He's a funny guy, don't ever want to cross him but I think I'm safe, he said he also bought 2 mustangs and told me where they are ... another property he owns. He owns maybe 1/4 of the properties on my road. Anyway they aren't for sale, and with this guy I think you'd have to offer 10 times what it's worth to even get him interested.
What year is that anyway? Did the year or two older ones have a longer hood or is it just the way I remember them?

ericnova72 I'm with, the monte Carlo is the one.

Looks like a raindrop or something on your window glass...but spotlights like that are available to anyone who wants one....I've got a '84 Chevy 4x4 here in Michigan from Oklahoma/Texas border area that was owned by a rancher...it has one right through the center of the roof!. Used for spotting cattle, lighting up a work area/broken fence/hitching a trailer/etc.

Larson Spotlight if I remember right.

55 Tony OK, I'll tell you where they are and you can buy the Plymouth and the Monte for me for my finders fee!

RWENUTS Just a Monte Carlo Tony!
Nothing to get excited about!
Now that old Plymouth I’d have!

55 Tony
I'd like the one on the left please.

They appeared one by one in a few days, down the road from me. First was the pink/purple one that is barley visible, I don't know what it was, but it's gone.
I'd like the one on the left please. Weird though, it has a police type spotlight?
