Thanks!

Thanks everyone, I will be providing this information to my mechanic soon! I appreciate your responses very much.

39 master Once more, common problem that has to do with valve body wear. Can be corrected with an updated spring. Did you search?

rockable Does it feel like the torque converter is locking up prematurely? If so, you have a bad pressure switch that failed closed. I just had that problem with my 700R4. Easy fix, if that is what it is and easy to troubleshoot. I believe there are multiple pressure switches in the 4L60. Drop the pan and check continuity to ground on the pressure switches. They should all test open. If you find a bad one, the replacement is about 12 bucks.

krwzn Thanks for the reply. I have been watching the tach closely and have not seen significant jump in rpms during shifting. I am learning to properly accelerate to avoid the hard 1 or 2 shift. I guess it’s all about getting used to the 411, Thanks again.

I'm sure the gears largely have something to do with it, but you'd take away alot of that low end you're granted with the 411s. I mean those are great from red-light to red-light. Not so much highway, though. Sounds like a lot of work and a step backwards for something that could be solved with better shift kit or a maybe a 2500 stall. Take a video on your smartphone of the RPMs you're turning when you shift 1st and 2nd

krwzn Bogie. Thanks for your reply, but I'm afraid it is going over my head. Are you suggesting and problem/solution? Thank you.

Hard shift

If you do a search for this problem there is also a fix where you don't have to remove the trans. Just has to do with the TCC solenoid.

BogiesAnnex1 This is common going back to the 700R4 as there is a big jump between first and second ratios.

The lower rear end ratio makes this more apparent since more torque due to the final gear ratio is involved.

As this transmission goes harder hits in the gear changes is in terms of wear the better choice against soft shifts as the lower line pressures involved encourage more wear with the friction elements.

39 master This is a common problem with the 4L60E and has to do with valve body wear, mostly the TCC solenoid.

shift hard 1st to 2nd gear

I have an LS2 6.0 with GM 4L60E transmission and posi traction 411 rear end. When I start from stop easy like in town, it shifts hard 1st to 2nd gear. Kind of like a little hop. If I start out more aggressive, the shift is smooth.
What would cause this and what is the solution?
Thank you for your input.
